Westpark Tollway at IH 610 / US 59 Interchange

Nathelyne A. Kennedy & Associates was part of the three-firm team responsible for designing the reconfiguration of one of the nation’s top 10 most heavily congested intersections. The redesign called for overall improvements as well as modifications to allow connection with the new Westpark Tollway.

Of the total project scope — nine new bridges and reconstruction of two connectors — we were responsible for eight of the bridges and Connector C, which runs from US 59 onto northbound IH 610 and required curved steel girder design. Traffic control and drilled shaft retaining walls were also included in our firm’s scope of work. To assure project continuity, we coordinated with teams on adjacent projects and multiple regulatory authorities on design studies, roadway controls and storm drainage. The $32 million project was completed under a highly aggressive schedule.
